The Benefits of Skin Needling

Collagen Induction Therapy is a procedure which often involves a trip to the doctors. However, skin needling is a variety of collagen induction therapy which can be conducted in your own home by yourself, in your own time; this can smooth out wrinkles, improves acne scarring and reduces the appearance of stretch marks.

One thing that scars, wrinkles, stretch marks and uneven skin have in common is a lack of collagen. Microneedling encourages collagen production in the skin, preventing and even reversing their formation.

Skin micro needling is a process carried out with a skin roller that is covered with several tiny needles. These needles perforate the topmost layer of skin and tenderly separate the pores of the skin. This process has 2 big advantages; it competently stimulates collagen formation at the same time as allowing creams applied to the skin to be absorbed more easily through the topmost layer (epidermis) of skin. Skin needling creates a very minor trauma which lasts for a short period of time and doesn’t cause the skin to break or bleed in the treated area in the way that laser therapy or microdermabrasion do.

The microscopic punctures (which are often just the opening of the pores of your skin) caused by the skin needling or micro needling, encourage collagen production in the dermis layer (the second layer of skin) and it creates a good environment for collagen and elastin formation. These key ingredients help the skin to cosmetically heal.

There are lots of alternatives to skin needling, and a lot of these require visits to a specialist. These include laser therapy and Micro-Dermabrasion. Using a skin needling roller at home is generally much cheaper.
